Each
piece of hardwood used is of the best quality and is
hand selected for quality and grain character. The
wood is purchased in the “rough” and milled to the
proper thickness in our studio. This often allows us
to make the entire piece from the same board,
ensuring consistency in wood color and grain
character. Every piece is made from solid lumber.
We're proud to say you won't find any particle board
in our work. |

We
use the same time tested joinery methods traditional
to the Arts & Crafts Movement including mortise &
tenon (“through” mortise, “blind” mortise, “pegged”
tenons), tongue & groove and ship lap. No nails or
staples are ever used; Screws are rare, and
concealed if possible. This type of joinery and
attention to detail results in pieces which are true
to spirit of the Arts & Crafts style. |

Due
to the wide selection of products we craft, a
variety of finishing processes are employed. We
prefer a five step, hand rubbed, wax finish which
produces a rich, low luster finish that looks
natural and emphasizes the grain in the wood. On
pieces requiring a more durable finish, we utilize
modern polyurethanes to offer more protection.

Our
intent is to provide “Heirloom” quality functional
art and accessories in the tradition of the Arts &
Crafts Movement for your home or office which are
not available elsewhere. We are always looking for
new products to develop. We welcome and appreciate
any ideas or special requests that you may have and
offer gift certificates if one of your ideas is
added to our standard product line.

About
Me
After
owning and operating a commercial cabinet business in
Arizona for 15 years, I moved to Michigan and for another 15
years worked as Design Engineer / Project Manager for a
premium quality woodworking company which catered to high
profile clients. During my time with this company, my
passion for woodworking was rekindled and I began making
small, detailed pieces in the Arts & Crafts style for my own
home. In early 2009, I decided to listen to the urgings of
friends and family and work full-time on projects for other
individuals who appreciate the beauty of timeless wood
pieces.

"Jesus has blessed me more than
I deserve, and the success of my business is not in my
hands, but in His. My part is to always be fair and honest,
to do the best work I can, and to treat my customers well (Col 3:23).
The care that I put into each piece is a small way of
honoring Him and of showing my gratitude for the gifts He
has given me. These pieces are not “widgets” to me, they are
my legacy and I “know” each one intimately. I will never
sell anything that I am not proud of." - John Shea
